Christmas Carol Service 2014

     The Carol Service of the Cathedral was held on the 14th of December 2014 at 6:00 pm. Rev. Jayan Thomas, Vicar, Marthoma Church, Calicut was the chief guest on the occasion. The famous song “O Come all ye faithful” was sung as the opening processional hymn. Rev. P.S. Ebenezer welcomed the gathering. Mr. Albert Vijayan Japheth; the Choir Master, led the choir with his skill and vast experience.

      The Christmas Anthem “Behold I bring you good tidings of great Joy” was presented in a beautiful manner by the Choir. The Junior choir consisting of 22 budding singers presented two songs on the occasion. Rev. Jayan Thomas, our chief guest delivered the message during the service in which he spoke about his experience in participating in the Carol Service conducted by the President of India at Delhi. He recalled the fact that ‘children’ were given special consideration and opportunity to present carols while Dr. Abdul Kalaam was the President of India whereas his predecessors and successors were happy with Church choirs. 

        A total of twelve songs were presented by the Choir. The Christmas Medley featuring the famous carols, ‘Joy to the world’, ‘Once in Royal David’s city’, ‘See amid the winter snow’, ‘O little town of Bethlehem’, ‘Angels we have heard on high’, ‘Hark the herald angels sing’ and ‘O Christmas tree!’, was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. The Malayalam Songs accompanied by Mr. Premkumar on guitar and by Mr. Salaam on Rhythm Pad were a treat to the audience. The bass guitar was an attraction to every song, played by our member and renowned guitarist Mr. Paul Vijayan. In addition to Mr. Vijayan Japheth, his son, Dr. Samuel Robert Japheth also accompanied the songs on the Violin. The keyboard was played by Mr. E.M. Selvaraj our church organist.

      Mr. Jesudas R. from Chalappuram Church, Mrs. Jyothi Bhai Sanjeevan from Gundert Church, Mr. Jijil Roy from Feroke Church, Mr. E.J. Supalithan Francis from Puthiyara church and Mrs. Shiela Joyce Anil from Cathedral read the bible portions in the Carol Service. Rev. Vincent Moses and Rev. Sam Prakash were present. Mr. Denzil John, our Pastorate Committee Secretary extended the vote of thanks. The Service concluded around 8:30 pm.

One day Medical Camp - Kattangal

            A One-day Medical Camp was organized at the Sathyanathan Memorial Hall  on the 14th of November at 11:00 am, soon after the Divine Service at the Sr. Karuna Memorial Prayer hall. 


           


                The camp was a great help to the people residing nearby the mission centre at Kattangal which was evident by the large number of participants. Around 80 people utilized this opportunity presented by the Kattangal Committee with the support of the Cathedral Pastorate Committee.

           
   Dr. John (General Medicine), Dr. Samuel Robert Japheth (General Medicine), Dr. Mohan Leslie Noone (Neurologist), Dr. Sheela Noone (Gynecologist) and Dr. Susan Kuriakose (Gynecologist) made themselves available for the people to consult.

              Free samples of medicines were made available with the support from well wishers. Mr. Randolf Vincent provided the assistance to the doctors.

"Sunday School" Sunday

         The 16th of November (Third Sunday) was observed as Sunday School Sunday. The Sunday School children led the various portions in the Order of Service. The service began with the procession towards the altar.

       The children took turns leading the service. Two beautiful songs were presented in the service. One by the Sunday School children and another by the Sunday School teachers.

        Ms. Aneeta Sherin, a student in the Intermediate class gave the message on the subject "Grow in faith".

           Rev. P.S. Ebenezer, Rev. Sam Prakash and Rev. Dr. Vincent Moses guided the children. It was a good experience for the children as well as the congregation.
