C.S.I. CATHEDRAL Kozhikode: Confirmation 2016

This year's Confirmation Service was held on the 17th of April 2016. 40 candidates; 23 boys and 17 girls attended the classes regularly which began in September 2015 and presented themselves for confirmation. Rev. Jacob Daniel, the Clergy secretary of the Malabar Diocese was the Chief guest on the occasion. The procession consisting of confirmation candidates, Pastorate committee members, Diocesan council members and the respected Achans, started from the CSI Cathedral Hall when the church bells announced the beginning of the service.

Rev. T.I. James, the present Chairman of the Cathedral, Rev. Dn. Shabu Thomas, Rev. Dr. Vincent Moses, Rev. Paul David Thottathil and Rev. Jacob Daniel led the Service.

Rev. Jacob Daniel, the Clergy Secretary of the Malabar Diocese and our chief guest on the occasion, delivered an inspiring and thought provoking message to the congregation and to the confirmation candidates in particular.

The Confirmation ceremony began after the message by Rev. Jacob Daniel. Rev. T.I. James asked the questions on faith and understanding of Christian principles to which the candidates answered one by one.

After all the questions were successfully answered to by the candidates, they were called forward, six at a time, to kneel in front of the altar for the blessing and confirmation.

The Confirmation Certificate containing a promise from the Bible, was read aloud by Rev. T.I. James. This, along with a Holy Bible was presented to each of the candidates by Rev. Vincent Moses.

After the ceremony, Mr. Denzil John, the Pastorate Committee secretary stood amidst the congregation and welcomed these young men and women into the full membership of the Cathedral. During this time the candidates faced the congregation.

It was the first visit of Rev. Jacob Daniel to the Cathedral in the capacity of the Clergy Secretary of the Malabar Diocese. Rev. T.I. James welcomed achan to the Cathedral Family. A bouquet was presented to Rev. Jacob Daniel by Mrs. Reshma Sambath and Mr. Denzil John honored him with a ponnada.

The Congregation 4

Among the 40 candidates, Mr. Mevin Austin, S/o Mr. Anil Wilsaraj and Ms. Sheril P., D/o Mr. Anil Pulimoottil secured full attendance in the confirmation classes. A memento was presented to them by Rev. Jacob Daniel in appreciation of this achievement on behalf of the Cathedral Pastorate Committee.

The Holy Communion Service began soon after and the Confirmation Candidates received their first communion. They were followed by their parents and relatives who had gathered to witness the service.
