Harvest Festival 2015

           The Harvest Festival and Annual Thanksgiving service of the Cathedral was celebrated on the 8^th of November. Rev. A. R. Susheel was the Chief Guest on the occasion. 

          The day began with the 9:00 am Malayalam service. Rev. Leslie Vinod Padiyangadan (Chairman, CSI Puthiyangadi church) was invited over to give the message during the service. The service concluded at 11 am and was followed by the Sing-a-Song session. 

             Like previous year, Sing-a-song session was organized to give an opportunity to all those who wished to sing a song in the Church for the glory of God. Mr. Joy Bennet sang a solo and began this session. Mrs. Karleena Jaivin, Mrs. Gilda Sam, Ms. Sandra Catherine Sudheer, Mr. Rajesh Joy, Mr. Sunil Titus, Ms. Dyna Titus, Mrs. Evangelin Edakkadan, Ms. Christin Kuruvilla, Ms. Edna Pearson, and a few others performed beautiful songs.

             Lunch was served for all from 12:30 pm onwards. The Harvest Festival Service began at 2 pm with the procession which started from the Cathedral Hall. Sunday school children held fruit baskets in their hand and led the procession. The members of Pastorate committee, Diocesan council and the respected Presbyters from various church along with Rev. A.R. Suseel; our chief guest, followed. Beautiful songs were presented by the Sunday School Children, the Men’s fellowship, The Cathedral Junior Choir, Golden Age Fellowship, Women’s Fellowship, Youth Fellowship and Cathedral Choir. The members of Chalappuram Church presented a beautiful song which was led by Rev. A. Earnest their chairman. Two other songs were also presented; one by the St. Mary’s Youth Fellowship and another by the members of the Kattangal Congregation. The Bible lessons on the occasion were read by, Mr. Denzil Herbert (CSI Puthiyangadi), Rev. A. Earnest (CSI Chalappuram), Rev. Vincent Manoharan (Retd. Vicar) and by Rev. Joy Alex (CSI Puthiyara). Rev. A.R. Suseel, who is serving as a lecturer at the Kannammoola United Theological Seminary at Trivandrum delivered the Festival Message. 

              Rev. Thomas P. Korah (Retd. Vicar), Rev. Paul David Thottathil (Retd. Vicar), Rev. Dr. Vincent Moses (Honorary Vicar, Cathedral), Rev. Vincent Manoharan (Retd. Vicar), Rev. Shabu Thomas (Cathedral), Rev. P.I. Job (Retd. Vicar) and Rev. T.J. Joseph (CSI Gundert Church) were also present. Mr. Denzil John (Pastorate Committee Secretary) extended the vote of thanks. The service concluded at 4:30 pm.

             The Auction, Food and games stalls became active as soon as the service ended. The ‘First Fruit’ was brought up for auction by Rev. Paul David Thottathil and Mrs. Neena Mathews claimed it by making the highest bid. The rest of the auction was led by Mr. Denzil John. A Tea stall was run by the staff of Malabar Christian College, Ice Cream Stall by teachers of BEM GHSS along with stalls by Women’s Fellowship, Men’s Fellowship, Golden Age Fellowship, Sunday School and Youth Fellowship. The celebrations came to a close after the Raffle (lucky dip) prizes were declared. 

            The Cathedral Pastorate committee extends their wholehearted thanks to all those who made this year’s Harvest Festival and Annual Thanksgiving service a grand success.

This year's Raffle sheets were released today after a special dedication prayer. Mr. Austin L. Parra, Sunday School Leader received the first set of Sheets from Rev. Vincent Moses. All are requested to enroll in the raffle to fulfill this year's Projects.

GUESTS: Rev. A.R. Susheel from KUT Seminary Trivandrum will be the Chief guest for this year's Harvest Festival service at 2 pm on November 8th. Rev. Samuel Coodacal (Retired Presbyter NKD) will deliver the message in the Divine Malayalam service at 9 am on the same day. The Vicars and Pastorate Committee members will be visiting houses to collect donations in the coming week. All are requested to contribute generously.

PROJECTS: 1. Altar Roof repair 2. Codacal Mission hospital Ambulance. The collection from Raffle this year will be equally divided for two requirements. One half will be utilized to repair the roof of the Cathedral Altar area which leaks during monsoon. The other half will be donated to our Mission Hospital at Codacal to buy an ambulance for their medical team. 

EARLIER: The Harvest Festival wider committee met and the Various sub-committees and their convenors were appointed. Full co-operation and Support of the Church members are solicited.

Women's Sunday 2015

The Procession

           The 13th of September 2015 was observed as Women's Sunday. The Malayalam Divine service was led by the members of the Women's Fellowship under the leadership of Mrs. Bindu Sydney (Secretary). 

            A beautiful song was rendered amidst the service which was accompanied by Mr. Winston on the Keyboard. A special prayer was made through which three new members were blessed and welcomed to the Women's fellowship.

            Mrs. Saji Vinod Allen (President, Women's Fellowship) delivered the message during the service.

Visit by delegates from KUT Seminary, Trivandrum

           Rev. A.R. Susheel (Lecturer on Counselling) from the Kannanmoola United Theological Seminary at Trivandrum visited the Cathedral today along with two students, Mr. Jijo George and Mr. Rex Immanuel to raise funds for the Seminary. As we all know, the KUT Seminary is the only seminary of CSI in Kerala and they visit us every year. This year, they intend to renovate some buildings, plan to buy a generator and also intend to provide scholarship to poor students from the money raised.

Around 44,000/- rupees were donated by the Cathedral Members who attended the English and Malayalam services today. Rev. A.R. Susheel expressed his gratitude and requested our continued prayers and support.

Convention by Bro. George Cherian - Missions India

      ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 27, 28, 29, 30 തീയ്യതികളില്‍ മിഷന്‍സ് ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ആഭിമുഖ്യത്തില്‍ കത്തീഡ്രലില്‍ വെച്ച് നടന്നു വന്ന ബൈബിള്‍ ക്ലാസ്സുകളും ആത്മീയ ഉണര്‍വ്വുയോഗങ്ങളും സമാപിച്ചു.

നോഹ, മോശ, യോശുവ എന്നീ വ്യക്തികളെ ഉദ്ധരിച്ച് ദൈവത്തിനു വേണ്ടി വിഡ്ഢി വേഷം കെട്ടുവാന്‍ നാമും സന്നദ്ധരായിരിക്കണം എന്ന സന്ദേശമാണ് മലയാളം ആരാധനാമദ്ധ്യേ അച്ചന്‍ നല്‍കിയത്.

ആരാധനയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം നടന്ന യോഗത്തില്‍, കുടുംബ ജീവിതം സന്തോഷപൂര്‍ണ്ണമാക്കുവാന്‍ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കേണ്ട കാര്യങ്ങളെപറ്റി, ഒരു ഫാമിലി കൗണ്‍സിലര്‍ എന്ന നിലയിലുള്ള അച്ചന്റെ അനുഭവങ്ങളുടെ വെളിച്ചത്തില്‍ വളരെ സരളവും എന്നാല്‍ ശക്തവുമായി അച്ചന്‍ ഉപദേശിച്ചു.
തുടര്‍ന്ന് ശ്രീ. രാജേഷ് ജോയ് നന്ദി പ്രകാശിപ്പിച്ചു. മെന്‍സ് ഫെലോഷിപ്പിന്റെയും സഭയുടെയും വകയായി ഒരു ഉപഹാരം, ശ്രീ. റെജിനോള്‍ഡ് വാള്‍ട്ടര്‍, അച്ചന് സമര്‍പ്പിച്ചു.

സി.എസ്.ഐ. കത്തീഡ്രല്‍ മെന്‍സ് ഫെലോഷിപ്പിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ ജൂലൈ 31, ആഗസ്റ്റ് 1, 2 എന്നീ ദിവസങ്ങളില്‍ ദൈവാലയത്തില്‍ വെച്ച് പ്രശസ്ത സുവിശേഷ പ്രാസംഗികനായ ഫാദര്‍ ജോസഫ് പുത്തന്‍പുരക്കല്‍ അവര്‍കളുടെ വചനഘോഷണം ക്രമീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. വെള്ളി, ശനി ദിവസങ്ങളില്‍ കൃത്യം 6:00 മണിക്ക് ഗാനശുശ്രൂഷയോടുകൂടെ യോഗം ആരംഭിക്കുന്നതാണ്. 

ഞായറാഴ്ച്ച വിശുദ്ധ മലയാളം ആരാധനയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം സമാപന യോഗം നടക്കുന്നതാണ്. ഈ യോഗത്തിനുശേഷം ഏവര്‍ക്കും ഉച്ചഭക്ഷണം ക്രമീകരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഏവരെയും ഈ യോഗങ്ങളിലേക്ക് സാദരം ക്ഷണിച്ചുകൊള്ളുന്നു

Annual Transfer of Pastors and Church Workers

              The Annual Transfer of Achans and Church workers came into effect on the 1st of May 2015. Rev. P.S. Ebenezer and Rev. Sam Prakash who had served the Cathedral as the Chairman and Asst. Vicar respectively for the past few years have been transferred. Rev. P.S. Ebenezer took charge as the Chairman of the CSI Church at Feroke and Rev. Sam Prakash in now in charge of the CSI Church at Puthenkunnu in Wayanad. On behalf of the Cathedral congregation, the Pastorate Committee thanks both these achans for their selfless and dedicated service rendered among us in the past years. A send-off to these achans were given after the Malayalam divine service on the 19th of April 2015.

           Rev. Vinod Allen has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Cathedral and Rev. Dn. Shabu Thomas who was serving as Vicar at the Manimooly CSI Church at Nilambur has been appointed as the Assistant Vicar at the Cathedral. We hope and pray that God almighty will bless the Cathedral through their service in the coming years. Kindly uphold the Achans and their family in your prayers.

Confirmation Service 2015

     The Confirmation Service of the Cathedral was held on the 26th of April 2015. Forty Eight candidates confirmed their faith and entered into the full membership of the Church. Rev. P.S. Ebenezer, Rev. Sam Prakash, Rev. Vinod Allen, Rev. Jose Peter (Retd.) and Rev. Dr. Vincent Moses led the service. Rev. Sajith Das Koroth was the Special Guest on the occassion and achan delivered the message.

Gospel Convention 2015

       The Annual Gospel Convention at the Cathedral was held from the 9th to the 11th of April 2015. Rev. Joseph Samuel, who is a lecturer at the Kannanmoola United Theological Seminary at Trivandrum was the speaker. Convention meetings were held at 6:00 pm in the evenings. Rev. Joseph Samuel delivered the message in the Revival Meeting at 10 am on Saturday as well as in the English and Malayalam Services on Sunday.

        The Music team comprising of church members sang beautifully. Mr. Vijayan Japheth on the Violin, Mr. Cecil Sathyadasan on the percussion (Tabla and Rhythym pad) and Mr. Binal Sathyadasan on Guitar accompanied the songs. 

         The participation of the congregation was less compared to previous year probably because of the start of vacation. But those who attended the meetings were very much blessed.

ശ്രീ. ഏണസ്റ്റ് സദാനന്ദന്‍ നിര്യാതനായി

കഴിഞ്ഞ ഏഴ് വര്‍ഷത്തോളം കത്തീഡ്രലില്‍ കപ്പ്യാരായി സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു വന്ന ശ്രീ. ഏണസ്റ്റ് സദാനന്ദന്‍ ( ഹാരി ) 2015 മാര്‍ച്ച് 31 ാം തിയ്യതി കര്‍ത്തൃസന്നിധിയിലേക്ക് ചേര്‍ക്കപ്പെട്ടു. വളരെ വിശ്വസ്തതയോടും ആത്മാര്‍ത്ഥതയോടും കപ്പ്യാരുടെ ജോലി നിര്‍വ്വഹിച്ച പ്രിയ ഹാരി അവസാന നാളുകളില്‍ കടുത്ത രോഗബാധിതനായിരുന്നു.

ഏപ്രില്‍ ഒന്നാം തിയ്യതി ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് മൂന്ന് മണിയോടെ പ്രിയ സഹോദരന്റെ ഭൗതിക ശരീരം കത്തീഡ്രലില്‍ കൊണ്ടുവരികയും സംസ്‌കാര ശുശ്രൂഷ നടത്തപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തു. മുന്നൂറിലധികം സഭാജനങ്ങള്‍ പരേതന് ആദരാഞ്ജലി അര്‍പ്പിക്കുവാന്‍ തദ്ദവസരത്തില്‍ കടന്നുവന്നു. സഭയുടെയും ഉപസംഘടനകളുടെയും പ്രതിനിധികള്‍ ആദരാഞ്ജലികള്‍ അര്‍പ്പിക്കുകയും റീത്ത് സമര്‍പ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. തുടര്‍ന്ന് 4 മണിക്ക് വെസ്റ്റ്ഹില്‍ സെമിത്തേരിയില്‍ ശരീരം അടക്കം ചെയ്തു. 

 

  ശ്രീ. ഏണസ്റ്റ് സദാനന്ദന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞ വര്‍ഷങ്ങളില്‍ നമ്മുടെ സഭയ്ക്കു നല്‍കിയ എല്ലാ സേവനങ്ങളും നന്ദിയോടെ ഓര്‍ത്ത് ദൈവത്തിനു സ്‌തോത്രം കരേറ്റുന്നു. ദുഃഖത്തിലിരിക്കുന്ന പരേതന്റെ ഭാര്യ ലീനയെയും, മാതാവിനെയും, സഹോദരങ്ങളെയും മറ്റ് ബന്ധുമിത്രാദികളെയും പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥനയില്‍ ഓര്‍ത്ത് കൊള്‍വാന്‍ അഭ്യര്‍ത്ഥിക്കുന്നു.

Widow Lane reopening on 15.March.2015

         The renovated Widow Lane was reopened for use on March 15th after the Divine Malayalam Service. Mr. George Thomas, Lay secretary, NKD, was the Chief guest on the occassion. Rev. PS Ebebezer, Rev. Vinod Allen, Rev. Dr. Vincent Moses, Rev. Paul David Thottathil and Rev. Mahesh Joshua led the prayer. Each room of the lane was visited and prayers made. Members of the Pastorate committee were present. A large number of church members also gathered to witness this function. Tea and snacks were distributed after the function.

Reception to Shri. George Thomas, Lay Secretary, NKD

               A Reception was given to the newly elected Lay Secretary of the North Kerala Diocese, Mr. George Thomas on the 15th of March during the Malayalam Divine Service.
