Harvest Festival 2015


           The Harvest Festival and Annual Thanksgiving service of the Cathedral was celebrated on the 8th of November. Rev. A. R. Susheel was the Chief Guest on the occasion. 
          The day began with the 9:00 am Malayalam service. Rev. Leslie Vinod Padiyangadan (Chairman, CSI Puthiyangadi church) was invited over to give the message during the service. The service concluded at 11 am and was followed by the Sing-a-Song session. 
             Like previous year, Sing-a-song session was organized to give an opportunity to all those who wished to sing a song in the Church for the glory of God. Mr. Joy Bennet sang a solo and began this session. Mrs. Karleena Jaivin, Mrs. Gilda Sam, Ms. Sandra Catherine Sudheer, Mr. Rajesh Joy, Mr. Sunil Titus, Ms. Dyna Titus, Mrs. Evangelin Edakkadan, Ms. Christin Kuruvilla, Ms. Edna Pearson, and a few others performed beautiful songs.
             Lunch was served for all from 12:30 pm onwards. The Harvest Festival Service began at 2 pm with the procession which started from the Cathedral Hall. Sunday school children held fruit baskets in their hand and led the procession. The members of Pastorate committee, Diocesan council and the respected Presbyters from various church along with Rev. A.R. Suseel; our chief guest, followed. Beautiful songs were presented by the Sunday School Children, the Men’s fellowship, The Cathedral Junior Choir, Golden Age Fellowship, Women’s Fellowship, Youth Fellowship and Cathedral Choir. The members of Chalappuram Church presented a beautiful song which was led by Rev. A. Earnest their chairman. Two other songs were also presented; one by the St. Mary’s Youth Fellowship and another by the members of the Kattangal Congregation. The Bible lessons on the occasion were read by, Mr. Denzil Herbert (CSI Puthiyangadi), Rev. A. Earnest (CSI Chalappuram), Rev. Vincent Manoharan (Retd. Vicar) and by Rev. Joy Alex (CSI Puthiyara). Rev. A.R. Suseel, who is serving as a lecturer at the Kannammoola United Theological Seminary at Trivandrum delivered the Festival Message. 
              Rev. Thomas P. Korah (Retd. Vicar), Rev. Paul David Thottathil (Retd. Vicar), Rev. Dr. Vincent Moses (Honorary Vicar, Cathedral), Rev. Vincent Manoharan (Retd. Vicar), Rev. Shabu Thomas (Cathedral), Rev. P.I. Job (Retd. Vicar) and Rev. T.J. Joseph (CSI Gundert Church) were also present. Mr. Denzil John (Pastorate Committee Secretary) extended the vote of thanks. The service concluded at 4:30 pm.
             The Auction, Food and games stalls became active as soon as the service ended. The ‘First Fruit’ was brought up for auction by Rev. Paul David Thottathil and Mrs. Neena Mathews claimed it by making the highest bid. The rest of the auction was led by Mr. Denzil John. A Tea stall was run by the staff of Malabar Christian College, Ice Cream Stall by teachers of BEM GHSS along with stalls by Women’s Fellowship, Men’s Fellowship, Golden Age Fellowship, Sunday School and Youth Fellowship. The celebrations came to a close after the Raffle (lucky dip) prizes were declared. 
            The Cathedral Pastorate committee extends their wholehearted thanks to all those who made this year’s Harvest Festival and Annual Thanksgiving service a grand success.

This year's Raffle sheets were released today after a special dedication prayer. Mr. Austin L. Parra, Sunday School Leader received the first set of Sheets from Rev. Vincent Moses. All are requested to enroll in the raffle to fulfill this year's Projects.

GUESTS: Rev. A.R. Susheel from KUT Seminary Trivandrum will be the Chief guest for this year's Harvest Festival service at 2 pm on November 8th. Rev. Samuel Coodacal (Retired Presbyter NKD) will deliver the message in the Divine Malayalam service at 9 am on the same day. The Vicars and Pastorate Committee members will be visiting houses to collect donations in the coming week. All are requested to contribute generously.

PROJECTS: 1. Altar Roof repair 2. Codacal Mission hospital Ambulance. The collection from Raffle this year will be equally divided for two requirements. One half will be utilized to repair the roof of the Cathedral Altar area which leaks during monsoon. The other half will be donated to our Mission Hospital at Codacal to buy an ambulance for their medical team. 

EARLIER: The Harvest Festival wider committee met and the Various sub-committees and their convenors were appointed. Full co-operation and Support of the Church members are solicited.
