200th Anniversary of the Basel Mission – Inauguration of Celebrations in India

            The Inaugural function marking the beginning of the ‘Year-long celebrations’ of the 200th Anniversary of the Basel Mission was held in the Hebic Memorial CSI Church in Dharwad, Karnataka on the of October 2014. A small team led by Rev. Vinod Allen attended this function representing the North Kerala Diocese.

         The function began with unveiling the curtain of the church gate by the Moderator of CSI, Most Rev. G. Daivashirvadam. 


 
    
        Everybody entered the church premises and visited the photo exhibition arranged in the church compound depicting the Basel Missionaries and the various churches and institutions established by them

           The Moderator and Bishops along with other Presbyters entered the altar and the “Candle” was lit marking the beginning of the celebrations.

            Mr. Christopher, a renowned Violinist from Germany played a beautiful piece of music in his Violin.

           Asst. Moderator Rt. Rev. Thomas K. Oommen, Mr. Lutz Drescher (The EMS Liaison for East Asia and India), Rev. Vinod Allen (On behalf of the North Kerala Diocese) and other dignitaries conveyed their greetings and felicitations on the occasion.

         The Hebic Church choir presented a beautiful song. The Moderator,  Most Rev. G. Daivashirvadam then delivered the message during the service.

         'Floral Tributes’ were given on the tombs of early missionaries who served in India. The cemetery adjacent to the church is a resting place of many famed missionaries to whom we are very much indebted.

Presbyter Ordination at CSI Immanuel Church, Ernakulam



          Rev. Dn. Sam Prakash who is currently serving as Assistant Vicar in the Cathedral, along with 8 other Deacons from our Diocese were given Presbyter Ordination by Rt. Rev. B.N. Fenn our Bishop in the Divine Service held at CSI Immanuel Church at Broadway, Ernakulam on the 17th of October 2014. Kindly uphold all ordained achans in your prayers.

Overall Championship won by our Sunday School Children



          Talent Scan 2014- a competition for Sunday School children from all Christian denominations was conducted by the Laymens Evangelical Fellowship, on Saturday, the 11th October 2014 from the Malabar Christian College auditorium. Our Sunday School children actively participated in most of the events and bagged the 'Paul Padiyangadan Memorial Rolling Shield' by scoring 84 points.

Church Assembly on 26th October 2014 - Update 3

           The Church Assembly of the CSI Cathedral was held on the 26th of October 2014 after the Divine Malayalam Service. Around 100 eligible members participated. The accounts for the Financial Years 2010-11 to 2013-14 were presented which was approved by the Assembly after discussion. Various other matters were also discussed which will be updated soon.

         The Church Assembly scheduled for today has been postponed to the next Sunday; 26.Oct.2014 after the Malayalam Service since the required number of members were not present today. The Assembly will be held next Sunday even if the quorum is not attained.

          The ‘Church Assembly’ of the Cathedral is being conducted on the 19th of October 2014 after the Divine Malayalam Service. The main agenda of the ‘Church Assembly’ is the approval of the Church Accounts and discussion of Future Plans. Other matters if any will be discussed with the permission of the Chairman.

         The list of members eligible to attend the ‘Assembly’ has been published in the notice board. Any omission/errors in the list should be brought to the notice of the Chairman, Rev. Vinod Allen or Pastorate Committee Secretary, Mr. Denzil John before 5 pm on the 15th of October 2014, Wednesday.

       The active participation of all members is requested. Kindly uphold the meeting in your prayers.
